If you are looking for a peaceful getaway not too far from Auckland, Piha Hideaways have got you covered: a tiny house nestled in the lush forest of the Waitakere Ranges.
During my last weekend at Piha, emblematic beach not far from Auckland, I was lucky enough to try out the ‘Tiny house lifestyle’ at Piha Hideaways. My first idea was to make you discover the west coast’s beaches (don’t worry, it will come soon…) and to recommend you the best accommodation around but the experience at Piha Hideaways was so great that I decided to make a complete article about it 😉
Hopefully, it will make you want to escape for a night in this kind of accommodation and reconnect with nature.

Here’s my detailed review of « The Tiny » – Piha Hideaways
Overview of ‘The Tiny’: A tiny house nestled in the Waitakere Ranges
Piha Hideaways propose 2 tiny house accommodations: the most petite called “The Snug” and “The Tiny” which is the one we stayed in.
“The Tiny” is a bit bigger which is perfect for a romantic getaway but can also fit for a small family thanks to its two-bedding areas. You must wonder: “how does 2 sleeping lofts fit in a tiny house? Isn’t it supposed to be tiny?”. Well, IT IS! But this tiny house has been built so perfectly that you got everything you need in such a small space: two ladders, one on each side of the room lead to the bed. There is a little kitchen with just what you need to cook a yummy dinner. And some homemade granola and local coffee are complimentary for our enjoyment. The room also features a dining table, a sofa a TV (with Netflix), and a small bathroom with a shower. I told you! Everything you may need is there.
I loved how warm and welcoming was the interior. Minimalist, cosy and environmentally friendly. The wooden layout totally got me! It made me feel at home.
Nested in the Waitakere Ranges, you are surrounded by nature and the outdoor area of The Tiny is ideal to unplug to the sounds of the birds and the wind breeze. This north-facing deck is also superb to enjoy the sunset from the built-in bath. Ultimate relaxation time!
What’s the tiny house looks like?
